Bharath & Associates was founded in 1967 as a 2-partner firm in Chennai, then known as Madras. We have now grown into one of the larger architectural and interior design firms of South India. We offer complete architectural and interior design services together with project management and we take pride in offering the comprehensive services and resources of a large firm with the same dedication and values present at the founding of the firm.
The firm now consists of six partners and a staff strength of around 30 persons. We have an in-house structural consultant and consultants on call for other specialised fields. Progressive in our thinking, diverse in our ideology, the client has the best of six creative minds.
We are strongly committed to matters of public interest, and we actively support environmental and development control issues. We have aided research projects on conservation in historic urban landscapes such as Mylapore, in Chennai and in making recommendations for the city of Chennai at a macro level. These projects have been an attempt to make informed judgements and put forth sustainable solutions for the city of Chennai. We have also been advisers to the Government of Tamilnadu in the conservation and development of Mamallapuram and Kodaikanal.
Our design philosophy is simple:
We do not believe in creating monuments but living spaces. We believe that good design should be creative and functional.
We listen to the client and satisfy his requirements and budget.
Our involvement in the project is total and we see it to its finish.
We pay great attention to details to ensure aesthetic finishes and convenience for the user. In domestic architecture we pay particular attention to kitchens and toilets that form the hub of everyday living.
We believe that any built space while satisfying its integral requirements of an office, manufacturing facility, residence or apartment should add something to the cityscape in its aesthetic appeal, its sense of balance and proportions and in its ability to be harmonious with its surroundings.
While keeping up with modern technology and building materials we still stay rooted in our feel for tradition and heritage. We believe in conservation.
Ours is a strong ethos of conforming to building rules and standards.
Lastly we design what we think is best where exteriors and interiors are an extension of the basic design and not add-on ornamentation and embellishment.
