The GITA name derives its origin from two well – known and respected families GILADA & TAPADIYA, who were traditionally engaged in the business of Oils and Pulses.
The pioneer of the Group, Shri. Bhagwandas Tapadiya (1940-1989), with his indomitable zeal and initiative, launched the Group in the field of Reinforced Spun Pipes and Concrete Products in the early 60’s. With his shrewd perspective, he was able to anticipate future trends and needs and successfully led the Group in entering one challenging field after the other. Thus, manufacturing centres for Prestressed Concrete Poles (1965) and Prestressed Concrete Sleepers (1975) of the GITA Group came into being.
The crowning effort came in 1986 when, in the face of severe competition, the Japanese Consortium MITSUI and Co. selected GITA Group for manufacturing several complex types of Precast Concrete elements for the prestigious Jawaharlal Nehru Port off Mumbai (Nhava Sheva) involving about 40.000 m3 of Concrete.
Gita’s contribution to Konkan Railway Projects ranged from supply of all types of Sleepers and Turnouts to Ballastless Tracks, Civil Engineering Works, supply of Ballast and construction of Permanent Way.
The Group continued its expansion into Granite Processing, High Tensile Steel Wires, Steel Pipes, Refractories, Infrastructure Projects such as Road and Rail Bridges, Turnkey Projects of Water Supply and Irrigation, Hydro-electric Power Generation, Windmills, State-of-The-Art Pulse Processing and Engineering Consultancy Services in the field of Railway and Road Infrastructure Projects, Marine Structures, Water Supply and Irrigation and Precast Housing.
