Company Profile






The Jagtap Art Studio was established in the year 1935, on the auspicious Mahurat of Dasshera, by Mr. Krishnaji Genuji Jagtap. Before setting up his own studio, he had worked for renowned sculptors like Mr. Karmarkar, Mr. Mhatre, and Mr. Talim. Afterwards he set out on his own and started a new studio in Pune. He has many well-known works to his credit, including the 6 feet high sculpture of Mahatma Ghandhi carved out of marble which stands proudly till date in phaltan. He has also made sculptures of Mr. Jotiba Phule, Shivaji Maharaj, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, Umaji Naik etc. The bronze bust of Tanaji Malusare perched proudly atop Sinhagad, The 6 feet high bronze statue at Bhosari, The two majestic Lion's lording over Sarasbag are the other examples of some of his outstanding works, to name just a few. He has a large number of works to his credit in Maharashtra.

Now, continuing this illustrious lineage into the third generation is Mr. Krishanaji Jagtap’s grandson Mr Amit Jagtap, who has proved to be a chip of the old block. He has been working since 1995 and has supplemented his skills with a G.D arts (Painting) diploma ,from the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune . He already has 19 busts and 6 full-size bronze statues to his credit. These include 4 statues in N. D. A., The Vishweshwar statue in the engineering college, Shri K. Chirmule’s bust present in the United Western Bank, the bust of the father of well known Pune city builder, Kumar builders, the busts of Mr. & Mrs. Basin at Wanawadi and the bust of Air India chief engineer Mr. Bhaskaran. He has also created the bronze statue near Bijapur. Along with these he also has made some realistic sculpture, paintings, murals etc. He aspires to carry forward the work started by his grandfather and supplemented by his father, in the near future.

Afterwards his son, Mr. Madhusudan Jagtap carried forward his legacy and created sculptures like the one’s sprinkled across the sprawling N. D. A. campus near Khadakwasla, Pune. He learnt the finer points of the art under his father’s expert tutelage. He had started working alongside his father since 1970. He made a name for himself by creating works of art like, Mr. Mamasaheb Dandekar’s statue in S. P. college, a 4.5 feet high sculpture of Shri. Akkalkot Swami in the sitting position etc. He also created a majestic 10 feet high statue of the Varaha ( Vishnu Avatar ) for the Udupi Math, Karnataka; which weighs a full 1.5 ton. His bronze works can be found at such distant places as Solapur, Dhule, Pune,Paranda, Karjat etc. Alongwith these works he also captured the splendour of various Hindu Deities in the luminous white marble statues. He has also given a new lease of life to old, damaged statues by working on them again using certain chemicals .
